PETER PARTHENIS, SR.
Peter is the founder and Chairman of Pure Mediterranean Foods and Grecian Delight Foods. Over the course of his illustrious career, Peter has not only built successful companies, he has helped drive the burgeoning consumer demand for Mediterranean Foods in the United States. His influence is no better exemplified then in his position to introduce and popularize gyros over the course of the past 40-plus years.
Outside of his professional life, Peter has been actively involved in numerous philanthropic, civic, and religious organizations. He is co-founder and a major contributor to the Foundation of Hellenic Studies, which has endowed a chair of Greek Studies at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is Executive Vice President of the National Hellenic Museum, as well as a member of its Board of Trustees. From 1997 to 1999, Peter was National President of the Scleroderma Foundation. He has also served as a Board Member of the United Hellenic American Congress and as a member of the Board for the Elgin Academy.
In 2005, Peter was awarded with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. He was appointed an Archon of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2007. Peter and his wife Ethel live in the Chicagoland area and are surrounded by their loving children Stacy, Tina, and Peter Jr., along with their spouses and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Parthenis, Sr. attended the University of Illinois and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Sciences. He continued his graduate studies in Automation/Engineering.
PETER PARTHENIS, JR.
Pete is the President and CEO of Pure Mediterranean Foods and Grecian Delight Foods, Inc. Throughout high school and college, Parthenis worked for the family business, climbing his way up the ranks to his current leadership position. After 15 years of helping build the company’s success, Pete took over his father’s role. Throughout Pete’s leadership tenure, Grecian Delight Foods has seen record sales and profits, amongst a national climate of economic instability and commodity headwinds. In 2010, Pete was recognized for his accomplishments as a prominent young leader by the Greek-American community when he was named to the Greek America Foundation’s Top Forty Under 40.
Pete is an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and has an unmatched passion for conscious leadership, personal growth, and cultural transformation in both his personal and professional life. He resides in suburban Chicago and spends quality time with his wife Vicki and their two children Peter and Sienna.
Mr. Parthenis, Jr. earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Business and also completed an Executive Education Program from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business. In 2011, Pete obtained his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Kostas Mallios believes in the power of ideas and a team's ability to make a big difference. His more than 20 years of interdisciplinary experience in growing businesses has spanned product innovation and development, mergers & acquisitions, intellectual property and business development. Kostas is currently engaged in leading global companies and startups as a hands-on Advisor and Board Member with a commitment to catalyzing growth. In addition, he is a private equity investor in several e-commerce and logistics companies and a co-founder of a venture capital fund with investments in 13 US and European software companies.
Previously, Kostas was Vice President at Intellectual Ventures, where he led the company’s business innovation strategy and R&D organization focused on creating new companies from IP portfolios. For 15 years prior, Kostas was at Microsoft Corporation in a number of escalating executive roles. As a Partner and General Manager of Strategy and Business Development, he blended emerging technologies and business models to bring new technologies and products to market. Throughout his tenure at Microsoft, Kostas drove organic and inorganic business growth. Through M&A business strategy for multi-billion dollar acquisitions, he helped to create durable businesses that continue to generate billions in Microsoft revenue today.
Mr. Mallios earned his MBA in Management & Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BS in Marketing Management from Siena College.
Rich Scalise is the current Chairman and CEO of Hearthside Food Solutions, LLC, the food industry’s largest integrated contract manufacturer and the nation’s largest privately owned bakery. Hearthside has 25 manufacturing facilities across the United States and Europe with over $1.5 billion in sales. More importantly, Hearthside has forever raised expectations for contract manufacturing excellence from customers and consumers alike.
Prior to co-founding Hearthside in 2009, Rich spent more than 37 years in the food industry, including roles as President of Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products Division and as President / COO of ConAgra Foods Refrigerated Foods Division. Throughout his tenure, Rich has developed a strong belief in melding the speed and flexibility of a lean start-up with the structure, resources and capabilities of a major provider’s resources. Consistently, he has delivered both value price and outstanding, consistent quality across channels in the Food and Beverage industry, while bolstering the top and bottom lines of his respective business.
In addition to serving as Hearthside’s Chairman, Rich previously served as Chairman of the Board at the American Bakers Association and is a current Board member of Grecian Delight, Nonni’s, Evans and Vee Pak.
Mr. Scalise earned a BA in Political Science & Speech Communication from Loras College.
Stanley L. Greanias is a retired Vice President of Sara Lee Corporation and Chief Executive Officer of Sara Lee Coffee and Tea, North America where he provided 25 years of service. Greanias began his business career in 1969 in management development programs with Johnson & Johnson Corporation. He joined Superior Coffee in 1978 as a plant manager and was promoted to Director of Eastern operations in 1980, while holding positions of increasing responsibility before being named President and Chief Executive Officer of Superior Coffee in 1985. In 1990, Stan assumed additional responsibility as Group President for all of Sara Lee Coffee’s North American operations. In 1999 he was elected Vice President of Sara Lee Corporation and served in that capacity until 2004.
Since that time, Stan has served as Chairman of the National Coffee Association and as President and CEO of Grecian Delight Foods. He was also appointed President & CEO of the Greek American Restaurant Cooperative, an organization made up of over one thousand independently owned restaurants in the Chicago Metropolitan area, and continues to serve on the Boards of Javo Beverage Company and the China Mist Ice Tea company. Stan has also served as President of the Chicago Special Children’s Charities (Special Olympics) and as a Director since 1984. Stan spends his time in both Scottsdale, Arizona and Bloomingdale, Illinois. Stan and his wife Marilyn have two children and two grandchildren.
Mr. Greanias earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration degree from Keller Graduate School of Management.
JEROME A. HARRIS, CPA
Mr. Harris is a CPA and has over 35 years of experience in professional services and public accounting, finance, financial services, manufacturing and distribution. He has led and been integral to a substantial number of mergers and acquisitions and currently serves as Managing Director of Harris Consulting Group, a consulting organization that, since 2004, has provided business, financial and strategy consulting services to middle market companies. Jerry also serves as Board Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of AmerInst Professional Services, Ltd ( a MGU ); as Vice Chairman and member of Board of Directors of AmerInst Insurance Group, Ltd., and as a member of Advisory Boards for Grecian Delight Foods, Inc., Vantage Leadership Consulting, LLC, and Windy City Representatives.
Prior to founding Harris Consulting, Jerry was Managing Partner of Checkers, Simon & Rosner LLP, CPAs where, through his leadership and innovative services, he grew the firm to the 23rd largest in the country. Jerry’s career highlights include substantial experience in auditing, downsizing and turnarounds, strategy, organizational planning and reorganizations. He is a founding member of ALAC, a professional liability insurance company that provides professional liability to large CPA firms.
Personally, Jerry spends time reading, working out, supporting the Ravinia Festival, and cheering on the Cubs, Bulls, Bears and Hawks. He has received many accolades, including the President’s award from Maine Northfield Little League, the Chairman’s Award from BKR International, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois CPA Society.
